Stress and Burnout Awareness 

Stress is often misunderstood as purely negative, yet optimal levels of stress are essential for health, motivation, engagement, and peak performance. However, excessive stress can lead to burnout, negatively impacting individuals, teams, and organisational performance.


Developed by an experienced counsellor with a special interest in neuroscience, performance coaching and with a background in Recruitment and HR, this course uniquely prepares individuals and teams to develop strategies to optimise stress levels for enhanced mental health, wellbeing, and performance.

Module 1: Understanding Stress​

  • Defining stress: Exploring when stress can be helpful and detrimental

  • The Stress Continuum: Identifying optimal zones for health, wellbeing, and performance

  • Stress-Performance Curve: Recognising the impact of stress on health and performance

  • Spotting the Signs: Equipping participants with the ability to identify symptoms of stress in the workplace

Module 2: Exploring Burnout


  • Defining burnout: ‘the human energy crisis’

  • Stress Variability: Delving into individual differences in stress response

  • Risk and Protective Factors: Identifying contributors to chronic stress and burnout

  • Stressors vs. De-stressors: Distinguishing between constructive and destructive influences

  • Burnout Trends: Analysing prevalent patterns across gender, generations, and other demographics


Module 3: The Biology of Burnout


  • Understanding the biological mechanisms underlying burnout

  • Growth vs. Defense Modes: When stress responses facilitate learning and when they hinder it

  • The "ARM" Framework: Addressing stress and burnout through Assess, Respond, and Maintain

  • Stress Resilience: Integrating the latest research to enhance resilience and wellbeing in the workplace
